It's Wedding Highlight Wednesday! Nicole and Rich Smith, February 25, 2017

May 24, 2017

Man it was cold, rainy and windy that day but it didn't stop the all-new Mr. and Mrs. Rich Smith from having an AWESOME wedding day and party!  As the DJ for their big day, I got to be the first DJ to celebrate with them at Whitetail Ski Resort in their brand-new reception space!

When I first met with Rich and Nicole, it was clear that they wanted to make this the biggest party they possibly could.  Nicole was one of the most sweet, laid-back brides I could have ever met, and Rich....well, I could've just listened to him talk all day with that awesome English accent!  Learning about them, I realized there would be lots of English folk attending the wedding who were also ready to party!  I revel in these kinds of receptions!  I remember speaking briefly with one guest prior to the ceremony and had my eyes been closed, I could've sworn I was talking with Adele.  So cool!

Speaking of the ceremony - we had to move things inside due to the crazy weather that day, but the awesome staff was able to gracefully transform the Whitetail Golf Resort Lodge into the perfect ceremony setting!  Nicole and Rich chose a variety of songs for their ceremony - a mixture from Acoustic Guitar Tribute Players, Piano Tribute Players, Vitamin String Quartet, London Music Works, and after being pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Smith, they strolled back down the aisle to Bruno Mars' "Marry You."

After the ceremony, guests transitioned up to the ski resort for cocktail hour, then shortly thereafter, the fun festivities began!  Nicole and Rich didn't want an elaborate grand entrance - just a simple "hey, they're here!" was all they wanted, in fact, they didn't request a lot of DJ interaction, which is totally cool with me.  There were LOTS of toasts, roasts and laughter before an awesome meal.

For their first dance, Nicole and Rich chose "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, and in lieu of doing two separate parent dances, they chose to share one dance song - Rascal Flatt's "My Wish," where Nicole and her stepfather and Rich and his mom could dance together.  The special dances were rounded out by a surprise dance to Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance" that Nicole requested for her and her mom.  It was the perfect way to kick off a dance party like no other!

The rest of the night.....well, the photos below speak for themselves.  In all of my 12 years of DJ'ing weddings, this one rates in the top 5 of epic dance parties.  It was a BLAST!  I had a few song requests - songs that are popular in the UK - otherwise, I picked their dance songs from my arsenal....and they tore up the dance floor.  It was a GREAT start to the 2017 wedding season!

Once again.....congratulations to the ALL-NEW Mr. and Mrs. Rich Smith!
